1L Reps will represent their fellow first-year classmates on The Advocates board and get a behind the scene look at advocacy competitions. If you are interested in advocacy or just want to get involved in a more meaningful way, this is for you. 3 Reps will be elected from each full-time section and 2 from the part-time section.
What is The Advocates?
The Advocates is the University of Houston Law Center’s student organization devoted to improving students’ oral advocacy presentation skills through competition. Each year The Advocates host intramural Moot Court, Mock Trial, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) competitions to give students at UHLC opportunities to develop and practice invaluable skills used by practicing attorneys.
Why be a 1L Rep?
- 1L Reps have a full voice on The Advocates Board, including voting rights.
- Being a 1L Rep is a rare opportunity to get early leadership experience, which can stand out on a resume.

Sign-Up Deadline:
The signup period starts now and runs until September 8th. The voting period will be from September 9th through the 12th. All 1Ls will get a vote.
